Annual Bursary

OKCC aims to nurture ability for all ages, from our Youth U18s to our over 60s, by encouraging talent, fostering a sense of adventure and promoting both competition and sportsmanship. To that end, OKCC is pleased to announce a new Annual Bursary and invite its members to get their thinking caps on and apply. The bursary may be awarded to any member in pursuit of a cycling-related goal. To qualify for the bursary an individual will need to be a current paid-up member and have been in the club for at least two complete years. Youth U18s need only to be a current paid-up member.

This year the OKCC Committee have agreed upon a pot of £500 and invite any member to apply for bursary awards from that pot. We have a broad range of members, from competitive racers to social riders, experienced to novice and we would like to support all of you on your journeys. If you’ve got something in mind and would like some financial support to help achieve that, then it’s worth applying.

Your bursary application request may be for a small or large part of the £500, so to help us decide on the awards we ask that you outline what you plan to do in your application and the costs involved. Obviously, there is only £500 to go around, so if we receive several worthy applications, the Committee will have its work cut out to make suitable awards. Each application will be judged on its merits, but it’s unlikely we would single out one person to receive the whole pot and leave other people with nothing, and far more likely that we would make several smaller awards to worthy applicants. We welcome applications from our Youth U18s in particular and encourage parents/carers/guardians to complete the form on behalf of our young cyclists.

So, whether you have an adventure in mind, a competitive target you’re aiming for, some coaching or skills you’d like to gain, or something we’ve never thought of before, we want to hear from you!

  • Awards may be split amongst several applicants.

  • The Committee reserves the right to make no award.

  • Should a member of the Committee wish to apply for a bursary their application will be reviewed by the other Committee members to ensure equity.

  • The Committee’s decision is final, and no correspondence will be entered into regarding their decision.

  • Successful applicant/s will be asked to submit a written report (with photos/videos if possible), and OKCC reserves the rights to use these for publicity purposes going forwards on our website, socials, and other media platforms.
